Description
This course will explore urban legends in theology.
This course examines 40 of the most common misunderstandings of Christian doctrine, addressing both cultural truisms and theological misconceptions that often misrepresent what the Bible and Christian tradition actually teach. Drawing from Michael Wittmer's engaging and incisive work, students will explore beliefs frequently heard in churches, such as "The Bible is our only authority," "All sin is the same before God," "God won't give you more than you can handle," and "Christianity is not a religion; it's a relationship." Through careful analysis and discussion, this course corrects these misconceptions and offers biblically and theologically sound alternatives. Students will gain deeper insight into the richness of Christian theology while developing the critical thinking skills necessary to navigate and articulate doctrine accurately in both personal and ministry contexts.
