Description

This course will explore urban legends of the New Testament.
This course explores forty of the most commonly misinterpreted passages in the New Testament, analyzing the "urban legends" that arise from neglecting context, misusing historical background, or misunderstanding the Greek language. Each passage will be examined to uncover popular but incorrect interpretations, followed by a careful and contextual interpretation based on sound biblical hermeneutics. Drawing from the Gospels, Acts, the Epistles, and Revelation, this course provides a model for accurate biblical interpretation while addressing key topics and misconceptions. Students will gain tools to avoid interpretive errors and devlop skills to faithfully handle New Testament texts in their literary and historical contexts.
