I am an Assistant Professor of Biology and Science Education at Jarvis Christian College.

I have a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and M.S. in Biology. My formal training is in Bioinformatics. My previous research involved the study of a biofuel producing bacteria.

Fun Fact: Bacteria can Really Produce Electricity.
What if we were able to capture and use this energy?

I moved to Texas from Mississipi. There seems to be slight differences, but it feels mostly the same. Texas is my home away from home. I enjoy reading, music, and being adventurous.

Outside my window currently there is the noise of construction work. Two new buildings are being constructed and there is a brown metal frame in place. The construction starts early in the morning and the cranes make an exasperating beeping sound every so often. The buildings are transforming right before my eyes. It seems that no one has a clear answer as to what will become of the buildings. That's why Inspector Simmons is on the case.

Fun Fact: Scientists have an amazing passion for          investigation and problem solving.

I know you probably can tell by now that I like to discover and analyze information. Therefore, it was only fitting that I would become a scientist eager to teach.  Over the past 4 years, I have taught General Biology I and Bioinformatics courses at Jarvis Christian. I am always excited about teaching and learning with my students.
