Description
		
			Introduction to the chemistry of carbon compounds.  Topics covered include bonding theory, acid/base theory, nucleophilic substitution and elimination, stereochemistry, spectroscopic  methods (IR, NMR), electrophilic addition, epoxides, Grignard Reaction, hydroboration/oxidation, and free radical reactions.  IUPAC chemical nomenclature or organic compounds is included.  Three hours of lecture per week.  Prerequisite: CHEM 1412.  Co-requisite: CHEM 2023.
